« The Curse of the Haunted Cobra » is an album bursting out of the flames of hell, irradiating heaven's glow, and hypnotizes you with it's carnal venom. The lethal substance secreted by the Marseilles band (France) the Dirteez is a devlish cocktail of powerful and blitzkrieging guitars flirting with death. Blending in punk with the Cramps verve, the Dirteez add in as well little acid sixties interludes, attracting us into a creepy, apocalyptical, sometimes unhealthy atmosphere. All is but nuclear war and flames roasting your flesh and toasting your soul. Brushing up a style of their own, the band perfectly draws us on their deep dark and diabolical side, where echoe to our ears unearthly cries and tortured howls. Formed since 1986, they have other than this third album many 45" records and mini-CDs to their credit. Well, we've got to admit that Marseilles breeds some wicked high potential bands, reminding us that without them, rock in France would be gloomy and would belong to an (almost) endangered species. And they're right about claiming that, bands like the Cowboys from Outerspace, LO or the Dirteez do raise hell, and they're asking for more. Like their hometown neighbors, this band, and we ain't gonna complain about it, stick out by bombing us with sharp cutting edge riffs, and letting explode a blood chilling energy.
