Smooth "An Electro Soul Experience"
MINISTRONG/WAGRAM

Ecstatic and enchanting, the music of the French band Smooth, I am sure, won't miss creating a buzz around it. Looting with class and elegance Stax's, Motown's or Atlantic's treasures, Smooth calls to mind Bertrand Burgalat. As a matter of fact the man might at this hour deeply regret not having signed this band on Tricatel. The label Ministrong was immediately charmed by the ardor of this band, and Smooth reigns now as a high prince on the kingdom of sexy and exquisite electro-soul. Broadening it's range of influences from The Doors and The Beatles to '70s funk and soul, Smooth doesn't lack of audacity in experimenting it's musical creation by adding a completely contemporary touch with innovating samples. Having surfed many band openings such as Erik Truffaz or Sinclair, the band from Nantes belongs in a way to the same family as The Herbalizer or The Cinematic Orchestra. Formed in 2002, three dandy boys are at the origin of this discographic jewel : Nicolas Berrevin whose bass guitar and keyboards give off sonor sparks, David Darricarrère at the guitar and keyboards sends us to heaven by bringing us to prodigiously high summits and finally, Christope Declerq at the drums. Playing a totally soothing and stoning music, sitting back in a cosy red leatherette sofa with a cocktail is just what you need to appreciate this album sprinkled with crimson, '70s dot patterned shirts, haunting wah wah atmospheres and authenticity.
