Heavy Trash
(Yep roc records)

Immersed in a country and fifties rock'n'roll trip, Heavy Trash dives us in the universe of a post-1958 deep America when stammered the first notes of rock'n'roll. Flashes of Gene Vincent and Elvis are evidently unaltered when listening to the combo formed by Jon Spencer of the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. While cruising through this album, you can picture yourself in ''L.A. Confidential'' with it's good ol'Cadillacs and Lincolns that bred the ''American Dream''. Heavy Trash shows us within 13 tracks that rock'n'roll is definitely at the origin of the awakening of senses, first sexual vibrations and hysterical feminine shreaks and I take here as proof the huge media coverage of The King. Jon Spencer seems to want dig up the ''phenomenon'' by developping a lewd voice in songs such as ''The Loveless'' or ''Dark Hair'd Rider'', that don't leave us unsensitive with their verve and the provoked excitement. But I wasn't as surprised when I got to ''Mr K.I.A.'' whose riff is the carbon copy of The Doors' ''Break On Through''. However, no need to worry, Heavy Trash's version slightly differs though isn't as spiced up as the original...

Heavy Trash gets out the cowboy hat and the boots when they interpret the totally telluric ''This Day Is Mine''. Don't expect a musical revolution, therefore I must say that this disc will rejoice the nostalgics of a revolved era.
